Ferrara, the Castello Estense (the Estense Castle), also known as Castle of St. Michael: detail of the ceiling of the Chamber of Dawn: "Sunset" , by Ludovico Settevecchi. The Chamber, former Ercole II's private room, was known in 1600 as the mirror chamber. It gives the name to the whole representation apartment that Alfonso II wanted. The vault scenes are thought to be the allegory of human life.
