Fortunato Depero
An eclectic figure of great importance in the art of the first half of the twentieth century, Fortunato Depero devoted himself to painting, sculpture, design, illustration, theatre, working also as a set designer and costume designer. His talent was particularly fruitful in the period of the historical avant-gardes, participating in the current of aeropainting and in the Second Futurism. It is to be remembered the importance he gave to his work in the advertising field. He carried out campaigns for Alberti (manufacturer of the Liquore Strega), Schering (Veramon), Bernocchi, and above all for Campari. It was the artist himself who wanted to realise Casa Depero in Rovereto, a space dedicated to his works, which was inaugurated in 1959, a year before his death.
