Piedmont
The Ricetto in Candelo, a fortified village a few kilometers from Biella, was built between the 13th and 14th centuries. It was the safe of the community which protected the most precious things there.
The Borromean Islands on Lake Maggiore include Isola Madre and its English botanical park; Isola Bella and its palace with halls, caves, garden; Isola Pescatori and the characteristic village.
In Bosco Marengo, there is the monumental Complex of Saint Crossand All the Saints which was founded by St. Pius V. His cenotaph is characterised by statues made by G.A. Buzzi in 1571.
The frescoes in the Church of Mondovì were painted by A. Pozzo in the second half of the XVII century; the XVIII ones of the Vicoforte sanctuary were realised by M. Bortoloni, F. Biella and G. Galli Bibiena.
